If you log in to CJ University, they have an extensive tutorial on Aff Marketing, I recommend it. Then there's tons of sites discussing AdSense.

The biggest thing with affiliate marketing is that it has a huge potential and no boundaries. It can be done online, off-line, e-mail and postal mail as long as it doesn't annoy the target.

Affiliate sites range from coupons sites, article sites, comparison shopping, product reviews and much more.

If you know HTML, and a few programming languages you can build your site on your own for free too. Then, when you become an expert you can tweak your site and optimize it for search engines.
