Content vs. Quality - 11-17-2004

If you havent noticed, a lot of webmasters will push programs like dictionaries push pronounciations. These programs will range from everything from online casinos to adult to gifts and online malls. The idea behind it being, if I have a thousand programs that I can build a downline under, I will get paid a lot of money! In the beginning, and as a truely new marketer, I also was convinced in this thinking. Lay the math on the table, and its amazing right? In my short, and awakening journey into this field, I have learned this is not usually the case. Realistically, are people going to come to your website and sign up for all 1,000? Probably not. They will either get bored with about the first 10, filling in all the new applications, waiting for confirmations, and if your site hasnt been updated in an eon or two, all the deadlinks. What if you had only 10 programs? 10 you say, thats it? Yes, 10. 10 of high quality programs that promote a quality product(s), and that dont pay a one time low commission, after some red tape and after-costs. And then there is the management issue. Can you realistically manage 1,000 links? If you are an amatuer, and looking for an easy check and not willing to invest a little time, probably not. Can you manage 10 links, 20, 30? I think people lose touch with what these links really are. They represent a liason between you and another person, the business person. They are also the middleground between the company, and the other guy who found it on a website. No, I say they are more like representations. Could you represent 1,000 companies, and give them the customer service the deserve on your own? Probably not. Could you do it with 10? Absolutely. I leave you with this, and I hope all the newbies, and pros who came before me, can learn and or add to this. Where does your project start to become a burden to yourself? If you are getting stressed out over finding 1,000 affiliates to join, take a step back, and ask yourself, "Are people really going to spend all day on my website looking at all these, or are they going to leave?" Why not start out with a few reputable ones? Atleast this way, if you do find that surfer willing to sign up through your links, you would have some high quality programs to offer, less stress, more time, and more enjoyment out of why it is you started out doing this in the first place. If you are not enjoying what it is you are doing with this field, I say to you, you may as well go work for someone, because that is what you are going to get at a J-O-B anyway.
Good day all.
