I have been exploring options for offering an affiliate program for a PHP directory script that has done really well since release in March. So far I have sold almost exclusively but what I really want is to expand with quality affiliates using quality selling techniques.

After exploring Shareasale, CJ, etc. it seems like the best option without a lot of risk is to focus on my our own affiliate program. While I'm still definitely in the "research" stage and spending most of my time on development I have a few questions.

1. Is 20-25% a lucrative # for sales ranging $30-50 on average? For the right affiliate sales will not be hard to get.

2. iDevAffiliate seems like the most affordable and complete affiliate package. I'd rather run a custom solution and a few details rub me the wrong way with this package too. Any other software out there to help an affiliate program run smoothly?

3. Are there any resources that really dig into the tax side of affiliate sales? This is something I really want to understand well before just jumping in head first!
