Last week I mentioned Project 2168, in which I will be building as many new sites as I can along the lines of the
low-maintenance sites I have that bring in between $21 and $68 per month in ad sales.* I started on this project over the weekend, and there’s good news:
I can use subdomains for some of these blogs!!!* That didn’t even occur to me until Friday evening.* I double checked
TextLinkAds (the source of income on these sites) to make sure they count subdomains as separate from the main, like Google does - they do. Since I happen to have some rather useless domains lying around - with existing
PR - this means I don’t even have to buy a single domain to get started on this.* And I’m not starting from zero on the traffic or the pagerank, which means I can incorporate
TLA a bit sooner than I had expected.
No expense.* Always a good thing.
I found an inexpensive host that has a good reputation, so the domains are locked and ready.* I themed them last night - thank goodness they don’t need much, because I’m tired of theming!
I also had a flash of inspiration and decided to stick
AdBrite ads at the top of each entry, but
only on the single.php page.** For those of you unfamiliar with WordPress, that means when you look at a main page and see several articles with excerpts, there will be no AdBrite ads.* But when you open up an article to read the rest of it, you’ll see an ad.* That keeps it a little cleaner and faster-loading for visitors, but still gives me a chance at some AdBrite earnings in addition to the TLA.
