I’m now going to annoy the hell out of
45n5 by reviewing ReviewMe.com. I totally get where he’s coming from, but I just can’t bring myself to pass up the money I’m getting for this review.
I signed up for
ReviewMe because I’ve had such a good experience with TextLinkAds and I rather like reviewing stuff. So far, this is the only review I’ve been offered; therefore I can’t say much about working with advertisers. But I like the fact that ReviewMe doesn’t allow advertisers to require positive site reviews. It lends more credibility to the paid reviews, though both advertisers and readers alike should be aware that even negative reviews often send heaps of very interested traffic to sites. Watch political sites in action: they sometimes generate negative and inflammatory publicity strictly because it works at least as well as positive publicity.
I’m hopeful that, because the reviews aren’t sold cheap, advertisers will not sign up for reviews with 3,000 blogs, so that we won’t all be reviewing the same site.* Right now is an exception, as ReviewMe has to get its name out there and prove its system works.* But I think in the long run, if we’re all repeatedly reviewing the same sites, that’s something readers could pick up on and grow numb to, as they do with so many ad systems.
