CITYSEARCH – NEW CPC & CPA – Local Search is HOT! - 11-10-2004

I am VERY proud to announce our 1st pay per click affiliate program – Citysearch, part of IAC/InterActiveCorp which also owns Hotels.com, TravelNow and other popular travel related affiliate programs. There are 3 different ways to make money with our brand new Citysearch program and Local Search is HOT so this should be a big winner for all of our dedicated partners!

Citysearch is a leading local search service, providing the most up-to-date information to over eight million people a month about local businesses - from restaurants and retail, to travel and professional services. This is the #1 site for in-depth restaurant information on the web, influencing more than a million people a month about where to eat, and the #3 local yellow page directory, supplying information for every domestic zip code. Through its unique Local Pay For Performance (PFP) service, Citysearch enables businesses to capture their most relevant customers online while paying only for leads received.

This program is competitive and comprehensive, allowing you to maximize your monthly revenue by sending users to CitySearch in a number of ways.

Question about CitySearch - 12-07-2004

Linda:
I have an awesome domain that is getting traffic but is only a directory for pet related businesses. If I apply to your program, will you give me a feed so that I can feature your results?

Hi MsCleo,

There are various ways to market, with different payouts. Mainly search boxes and banners. They had talked about a feed at one point, but I am not certain if they will be able to do it. You can see examples of all the promotion options here: http://affiliates.citysearch.com

Red face The Local Search Market Is Not Developed Enough Yet - 12-25-2004

I've spent a fair amount of time with local search, and I think that I can honestly say that I personally don't think the market is developed enough. As one writer put it -- we're dealing with the '"chicken and the egg" scenario. Merchants want to target the local market, and consumers want to find the merchants. But neither seems to be quickly gravitating towards the other. Case in point -- I was recently discussing my Yellow Pages print ad package with my sales representative, and I wanted to evaluate whether I should advertise online in their Yellow Pages directory along with my print buy. So I asked for statistics (searches to my category). The numbers were not impressive. This was with Qwest/DexOnline. The same thing happened when I talked to the Verizon Yellow Pages sales rep some time back. Quite a few advertisers on SuperPages paying some serious money, and the category was getting 20 or so searches a month. Definitely nothing to write home about.

Just thought that I'd throw in my two cents worth!

Mike :p
