Today we implemented some caching technologies. All pages are now whitespace compressed and gzipped for output to compatible browsers. All the images also have their image sizes passed whenever they are referenced in any site templates.

Caching and Sessions don't mix. - 11-03-2006

That's cool, all implementations are definitely working as expected then.

Off topic but, I wonder if there's a way to selectively cache stuff on a site.

Although in my case, I can't really cache the entire page because I'm using HTTP Sessions on each page, caching would break some of the functionlity that depends on session values.

You guys might have already tried it, but if not I would strongly recommend APC

Great PHP-caching, easy to implement. We've seen excellent results with APC on several of our LAMP sites.

I'm still seeing the hangtime on IE too.
But, it's only on pages displaying threads.
