As such, the respective blogger would receive a commission from any sales generated through referrals!

Creating blog with specific niche, does it woild be generate sales..?

It's unfortunately a lot harder to make money blogging than many articles make it sound. There's no magic bullet.

Yes, you usually have audiences who are targetted to a niche, but those readers are there for information - not to buy. Moving them from readers to buyers is no simple feat.

Bloggers, you might make a little cash here and there between google ads and affiliate links, but don't expect to make much more than your annual hosting fees without a lot of time and effort.

I'd say sidebar banner ads are the least effective, while text links embedded in your blog posts can be somewhat effective. But it gets hard to find content that lends itself to embedding links without sounding like you're just advertising a product.

The medical article I was talking about on the other thread is the one I wrote where I added many merchant links including links to Amazon, Google AdSense and other related merchants, but so far I haven't seen much in sales on the Article and no AdSense clicks either.

This particular article got hits from Google too.

So, now I'm focusing on building a marketing website - you know the ones where people have a *buy* mind-set.

Another strategy that I'm working on is creating a separate section on my blog for just product sales, which I then refer to in various places inside blog posts.

For example, check out dad-eblog.com | Musings from a few dedicated dads where I just posted an article on leveraging house projects as a way to get "wife approval" for new power tools. I refer to my "Deals for Dads - Tools" page for deals on nail guns, which I discussed in my blog along with a picture of my current house project (window seats for the kid's rooms).

I'm hoping that readers who were interested in the blog post, will also be interested in checking out the "Deals" section... and perhaps will be one step closer to the "Buy" mode.

This will also let me continue to blog on whatever I'm passionate about, without having to weed in a clever sales pitch in every post.

I agree with the statement that Rick made, however it is not true for every industry.

In many industries the search for information is purely for a purchasing intention. For example. the Jewelry industry. Most people will read blogs on jewelry to get some education on "how" and "what" to buy. Ultimately, leading them to a commerce site through blog links, can infact be lucrative.

I think that the best way to "Monetize Your Blog", is to focus on those industries where information is needed for a purchasing intention.

I really did enjoy your dad-eblog. You sound like a real Dad's dad. As I understand what you're saying is while having the Deals for Dad's page where you post neat little ads for items (of course, from vendors that you have affiliate membership with) that you have some working knowledge of separated from an actual blogging page that may give a much more indepth perspective on applications and other valuable tips. This way you provide a sort of clearinghouse page for Dads needing a quick glance for such things that they know they can trust your opinion for.

So, the way I'm translating that approach to my own world is the following: Since I make the rounds daily to day dream about all the pro-audio gizmos and software, I can post ads the way you do for all the cool stuff that I like on 1 or 2 pages, then blog about how to use them on other pages. BRILLIANT! Is this kind of what you're recommending?
