Although Digg is very good if your article manages to go to the front page getting there is a little difficult most articles that get there are news and stuff like that and you can end up with no page views or only 3 or 4.
Try Stumble Upon its faster and you have more chance of getting traffic for a non blog site. But Blogs do very well in Stumble Upon
Some tips on using Stumble Upon.
Create a healthy profile. Before you Stumble your own pages:
a)Stumble other peoples pages write reviews and tag try different web sites don't stumble only one or tho urls from only one site. Try finding good pages and Stumble them until you "discover"some ( find pages nobody stumbled before) try to discover good content. This makes you Stumbles more powerful trust me.
b) Don't self "discover" all your pages submit one then wait a few weeks and submit another its better if you let other people discover them. If you discover only your pages Stumble Upon will think you are spamming and will block you from discovering your site. If you continue Discovering your site it will be blocked and no more Stumble Upon Traffic ever. A Stumble Upon account ban follows.
C) Make sure your content is really good so people keep giving thumbs up and traffic continues. Some Digg principles apply. (Friends, Stumbling other peoples stuff you know the drill.)
D) If by chance you are using AdSense on your site be careful with Stumble Upon and Digg these people usually don't click at stuff so you can get banned by Google if your CTR is extremely low as this makes Google think you are participating in a traffic exchange and are getting invalid page impressions.
A Digg front page rush lasts a few days probably a day or two a good Stumble can last a lifetime. It's you pick. But you can benefit from both.
In summary create a healthy profile so your Stumbles are powerful, then you can discover one or two of your pages. Don't discover more of your pages let other people find them. |
