Are you sure you're not talking about Adwords?

Google PPC - 12-09-2004

I think MsCleo means Google Adsense.... I have seen posts about this saying yes and no and it was a topic of conversation among people at WebmasterWorld. Google reps did not make any reference to a policy like this getting into effect but they did launch something called Google Advertising Professionals program.

Anyone else has feedback about this rumor?

Google or google adsense? - 12-10-2004

If your talking about Google the search engine kicking affiliates out. I really doubt it as they would be not accurate search results with a loss of millions of pages. But if your talking about google adsense, I don't think so.

Google Adsense - 12-10-2004

Valiant:
I am talking about Google Adsense not Google's search. Besides, is well known that Google search is taking out affiliate template sites from its index. Hell, I got 2 sites that got canned recently and I haven't been able to get them reindexed....

If Google Adsense decides not to let affiliates bid on keywords to send traffic to the merchants, who will? Perhaps the Google Professional group?

Bidding on keywords really makes it sound like you are talking about Adwords. They have said that they are no longer going to allow affiliates to send traffic direct to the merchant. However, this is a questionable tactic anyways IMO, so I don't think it's a big deal.
