Initially it would be better if you use a yahoo blog as it is already submitted in the seo.Post your links in the blog so that your search results are enhanced.then after open your own blog.Once your articles and blogs get reputed you will automatically garner traffic to your blog.

The problem is that you can't ever look at it from just one perspective. I'm not sure if you're taking everything else into account but it looks like you're completely ignoring how visitors will respond to seeing your blog about X right next to 300 other people who blog about X.

I'm definitely one of those people who supports hosting your own blog on your own site. It's absolutely affordable and I daresay indispensable. There's no substitute for image when you remember that you might get 1 sale from a passerby using a free blog, but with a professional image you'll save money with loyal customers.

I started with blogspot addresses on Blogger and I wish I had not - I am now spending time migrating them to their own domains and playing catch up with the page ranks they had earned over there. If I had started off with own domains in the first place I could have saved a lot of time and gained more trust for the blogs. Many of the 'paid to pots' sites will not accept blogspot blogs, that is another consideration.

There is no substitute for a well crafted, well designed and personalized blog. So for me, I prefer hosting my own blog. I will not only make you credible but also project a professional image to your online visitors.
