Link Building for SEO - 12-29-2007

Link building is the key for an effective SEO campaign. This works best for PR and SERP. Always provide useful and relevant content in your websites niche as this will help in quality organic linking - sites will naturally link to your site once they see unique and helpful information in your site. Keep in mind that the more targeted backlinks you build for your site, the more likely it will bring in the right visitors that could make the conversions for better revenue. You do targeted link buidling for fast and long term traffic to your sites.

There are several ways to build links. Here are just some of the following:

Directory Submissions - targeted links at high PR directories
Blog and Forum Postings - to high PR and frequently crawled sites
Social Bookmarking
Classified Ads
Article Marketing - submit to high PR directories, could also serve as link baits
Link Exchange - with relevant sites authority sites
Link Baits - for organic linking
Etc. etc.

What are your thoughts? What kind of link building method do you use and how effective has it been?

You don't have to submit to every directory out there. Here are some pointers in choosing which ones to submit to (whether free or paid):

High PR - indication that Google sees some value in the directory.
Well maintained - listed sites are in the proper category
High Traffic - getting traffic could be minimal form directories, but majority are targeted
Kewords ranking high in SERP - Well optimized, shows that the directory is well-marketed and SEO'ed.

Which to avoid:
Link farms that pose as directories
Directories that require reciprocal links
Crappy ones with crappy sites listed

They are. What's good about forum participation is that not only do you get backlinks (via your sig) but you also learn new stuffs and make new friends in the industry. They also provide direct traffic from time to time ;)

Re: Link Building for SEO - 03-05-2008

Thank you for the info.

I personally find it difficult figuring out which directory is actually worth for me to add my link to, and which are just link-farms that will ruin my google pr.

Hi,

Ya, That's good and effective thought from the site's point of view during seo campain.
You forgot just one thing that we can also use Press Release submission.

I have not seen any information that a back link can hurt you. If this was the case wouldn't I just link my competitors?
