Not sure what your saying Google guidelines state not to use paid links and growing a site to fast is bad. 300 links in a week is bad. You site may get penalized and sandbox and thats not good.

It is better to build a good website design that is user and SE friendly and add content and build links at a normal pace. Slow and steady wins the race.

You can fairly learn a lot about SEO through research and actual implemention of what you learn. Once you see your desired results from your SEO efforts, that's when you can say you are already an expert.
