Need some help and suggestions in advertising... - 04-27-2008

Guys,

I was thinking of buying an ad space for one of our sites that is solely put up for a free printer promo we are affiliated with. I need some recommendations for other websites in which majority of the traffic are US and Canada based. I am more intersted in traffic that are business related as the promo would cater to business owners, small to medium corporations. organizations, etc.

The site - freeprinterpromo.com - would only accept ISP's from US and Canada. I have been getting good traffic on it from our own sites but would really want to market it more for greater reach. Would also be willing to spend a little on it.

Kindly give me some suggestions on sites or forum you have advertised before.

You may also PM me if you would like to recommend your own site - please provide your traffic stats, rate for banner or text ads, and other pertinent details.

Hope to hear from you ;)

It is very difficult since you are trying to target specific audiences. I think you need to do a few filtering. First find some of local forums for those particular people. Then filter all of them some more to find those that best matches what you are looking for. A problem though, advertising in those specific forums might be expensive so you will need to negotiate with them.

Try looking for small online webstores that cater for those areas only. Maybe you can try to set up an advertising deal with them.

Mr Cat, I can think of one other way to get a high percentage of your target audiences. But the problem is that it will be quite expensive. You can go down to your local advertising agency. But make sure that it is a big agency of else it will be troublesome for you.

Ask them to create an ad space for your offer and then place it only in the tech sections or anything equivalent to it in the newspaper. If that agency is as big as I hope it is, they will have some connections to the other country, if you are in canada, look for an agency that has connections in the us as well. Displaying in the newspaper is expensive, but by advertising straight in the tech or computer sections, you get a very highly target audience.

Of course you will have to weight the cost versus benefits to see whether it is wise to use this option. Hope this gives you some ideas. Good luck!

Good one! Thanks. I am a bit worried about the cost of that though.

Yeah I guess that one can reach deep into your wallet. Here's a better idea for you to test drive it on a smaller scale. Find just one state to test it out on. Try to get the most tech savvy state. A good way to go is looking for places with lots of IT companies, colleges and universities and the sort.

Advertise for just that state then determine from the feedback that you gain, whether or not to continue. If you advertise slowly from state to state, it would be a effective way of making sure that visitors each month remains at a steady and constant level. The best is that it is much more affordable and you can weigh the advantages and disadvantages better to determine whether or not it is feasible to continue.

I hope I am able to help you out. I would love to hear the results that you achieved as well. Good luck!
