Starting out New - 08-28-2006

I was just curious, I wanted to start a new site to where kids could get on and ger resourceful information ie. educational information, fun learning games, reading help and so on. I want to make this site very secure for children but make it very informative but yet fun for them.
Anyone have any ideas how to begin doing this?
What are the first steps, how much money would you think it will cost to get this up and running?

Getting started! - 09-03-2006

Do you plan to build your own site? Do you already have something planned as far as the layout of the site? And what do you want to sell? Are you not doing this for profit?

Information - 09-14-2006

I am wanting to put out there items for kids and teens that will help them build brain power yet keep them coming back. Things that will interest them ie games, challenges, sports, information to help them out with their homework like maybe for the different grade levels I could have different homework pages of particular things they are studying at the time.
I want kids and teens to have a place to go to so we can keep them off the streets and drugs.
I am open for any new ideas or please tell me if something I have stated just won't work.

I am in need of great help because I really want to get things going.

Edgar

Suggestion... - 09-17-2006

I think you should google words related to your theme and see what other similiar websites are doing. Get some ideas from your competitors and see if you can improve on what they are doing.

Thank you I appreciate your feedback. I never thought about going to Google and doing that. I will let you know what I come up with and I am sure I will be back asking you more questions.
I am just starting out trying to develop a web site for the first time and I really want to make the best of it in which I am also doing this on the side from my full time job so this is all in a different language to me which is why I am in need of your help.

Thank you,
Edgar

Setting Up Your Website - 10-12-2006

Setting up a website is really quite easy - but you do need to sit down and do some thinking about it first

The web works by targeting keywords and keyword phrases - so you need pages - I call them "traffic pages" - which target different keywords or keyword phrases. you can check out which keyword and keyword phrases people are typing in and then look at the competition from other sites for the same keywords. That should help you target the right niche for your audience

When you have a kids site - you need to get as much interactivity and games type activity, as poissible
Kids learn alot faster if they can learn by doing - espeically if it is in a fun way, so they dont actually think they are doing any learning - they are just having fun

I am quite a fan of interactive learning - so I would suggest having things like this on your site

You could also try some kind of competitons where can compete against each other - like a league table of results

I hope these few ideas might help you
