Share your tips on how to get listed on yahoo - 12-28-2006
hello members

here are my thoughts on how to get listed on yahoo

1. By getting inbound links that are related to your site.
2. Submit your web sites to quality directories & do article submissions.
3. If you have some more money to spend do yahoo paid dir submissions.
4. Use meta tags on your website, then bots will visit and eventually in 3-4 months it will be listed. You never know...


Any other suggestions besides above..

Well points 1,2 and 3 have the same outcome really- gaining inbound links to your site. This is the best way to get your site indexed with any search engine.
Point 4 using meta tags- having meta tags on your site does not necessarily mean that se spiders will visit your site. Yes they should be there for optimisation purposes, however the fact that they are there will not "induce" spiders to crawl the site.

Directory submissions eh?......

I've noticed that Yahoo spiders my new sites quite quickly and they're listed within a matter of days.

The absolute fastest way I've seen to get listed in Yahoo is to submit a sitemap via Yahoo Site Explorer: https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com

The protocol for the sitemap can be found at sitemaps.org - Home. There are also a number of web companies that generate your sitemaps by crawling your site.

I have put all my URLs into Yahoo site explorer and I authenticated my websites, but I cannot work out how to authenticate my blogspot blogs. Do you know if there is a way to do this?

I have sitemaps but I cannot see how to submit a sitemap over on the Yahoo site - maybe this is why I get traffic from Google and MSN but not Yahoo!

Are you using the hosted version of Blogger or hosting it yourself on your own domain? I'm told some people have success with Free SEO Tools - Free Online Sitemap Generator and then upload it themselves. Other posts I've seen floating around say that it's impossible.

I am using blogger to host it so I don't understand how to upload the yahoo authentication key or the verification file (or a sitemap) to the blogger site.

Getting listed into Yahoo is just the same as getting listed in Google. You need a site that doesn't break their guidelines and also have backlinks pointing to it that are already listed in yahoo.

It's easy to be listed in search engines, but it's more difficult to be listed in the first page of results for your keywords. Of course you'll have to know SEO very well.
