Over the last two years I have been noticing that Alexa is showing industry wide decrease in traffic ranking for many sites in many industries. For example in the graph below Alexa is showing that
SEOMoz,
Wolf-Howl,
ShoeMoney, DigitalPoint and WebmasterWorld have all seen a 50% decrees or more over this year.

What makes it more interesting is that in the last 3 quarters of 2006 on all five sites have seen a large to mid-size jump in traffic. If the decline lines continue in this direction, all 5 sites will reach their opening traffic levels back in 2004 within 3rd quarter of 2008.
While Alexa is showing that our industry has already passed its growth stage, and is now entering into the liquidation stage, the real question is if Alexa has finely started losing its luster in the
SEO community with its toolbar installs.
As this is the 3rd industry I have seen that is following this trend from 2006 forward, I can only assume that Alexa has lost its luster… The only other thing that I could foresee is that the US/Global recessions has started to effect the
SEO community, and many other markets that require people to have extra revenue to spend.
