Today has been a fun filled day while we continue our 3rd day of developing new filters on 3 of our DMS’s (Data Mined Servers). Beyond reviewing job applications for the new developer position that has opened up I have been crawling around the web looking for a new web analytic service.
On some of our sites we have been using Google Analytics; however I just don’t feel its right to give Google that data so that they can continue to judge us on our performance and change ranking or whatever.
There has been rumors running around that if you use GA, G will use the data to cross ref your ranking. I don’t know if it’s true or not, however, that being said I think it’s best to find another source while we continue to develop our own in-house analytic service.
From recommendations of services like OneStat, ShinyStats, and EngineReady I felt they failed to fully provide the level of data GA provides in GUI data, however while some are free/paid I wanted to find something that was of the next level, and I think I have found it.
My assistant managed to dig up 3 companies in the process of the day.
- Omiture - With customers like Wal-Mart, Ebay, Microsoft, and GM
- Coremetrics - Bank of America, Quicken, Macys, Office Dept, and many more
- DeepMetric - 7up, and Yale.
While the three companies had larger clients, Omiture got my full attention as Ebay is almost legendary for the level of customer information they have from their data research in customer usage habits, along with Wal-Mart being well famed with being able to learn what customers want, as well as, track their buying trends and stock stores with HOT items overnight.
That said, I think I’m going to give them a call and see what’s the up, and get pricing, I’m hoping they will be able to bring an more information to the table than Google Analytics has.
I’ll keep you all posted on what I findout!
