Over the New Years weekend Saddam was hung for crimes agents humanity, and with the explosive power of video sharing it was already on video sites like Google video within just a couple hours (You can
watch the execution here).
As with most large events I always like to hop on over to Wordze and see what type of traffic did it produce on a local or global scale. As always Wordze did not miss one minute of it and recorded an historic event in the making by picking up not just one keyword but 4 keywords in the top list for saddam’s hanging on Sat.
saddam executed 8745 (Up 96%)
saddam execution 6882 (Up 83%)
saddam hanging 6748 (Up 87%)
saddam hussein execution 5700 (Up 81%)
Using
Wordze’s demographic data I was able to see who was interested in the event as well as what cities did some of the searching.

United States 37.7%
Great Britain (UK) 8.11%

City Demographics *
New York, NY, US 10.84%
Los Angeles, CA, US 9.52%
San Francisco, CA, US 7.6%
Washington, DC, US 3.72%
From the data provided I think the American public was not overwhelmingly interested in the event because only 37% of them where searching for more informaion on the execution of saddam, however TV provided so much coverage on the event because it is now part of not just the American history, but the world history.
Maybe 50 years from now we will look back on history and wonder how many people searched for the video or more information on this event. This is/was something that we all lived to see and hear about. Just like our grandparents lived out WW2.
* I only listed the first couple of cities because the list is long as hell.
